Cameel Halim's profile

The Halim Time and Glass Museum

Cameel Halim has served as president, owner, and managing member of CH Ventures, LLC, in Wilmette, Illinois, since 2005. Cameel Halim is also avid collector of rare and valuable timepieces. His collection consists of many clocks and watches constructed before 1800 CE, many of which are on display in the Halim Time and Glass Museum in Evanston, Illinois.

The collection consists of approximately 600 pieces highlighted by an 18th century tall case clock once belonging to a leader of Japan; a 17th century elephant clock that has survived Augsburg, the country it was constructed in; an English skeleton clock housed in a glass shield that was cracked during a German bombing of London during World War II; and a French Breguet pocket watch specially designed for a blind man.

A portion of the collection had previously been on display at the Seth Atwood Time Museum. After that museum’s closing in 1999, Halim acquired 200 of its clocks and watches valued at $5 million. More information regarding the Halim Time and Glass Museum can be found at www.halimmuseum.org.
